Advantages

Traditional Block Partitions

Concrete block and AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete) block walls remain common in the UAE for structural walls, boundary walls, and areas that need high impact resistance or superior sound insulation, such as party walls between residential units or plant rooms.

Advantages

• Higher inherent sound insulation and impact resistance
• Strong fire resistance without additional treatment
• Durable in high-traffic or industrial areas

Limitations

Block work takes longer to build and plaster, adds more dead load to the structure, and is harder to modify later without significant demolition work.

Cost and Timeline Comparison

As a general rule for UAE commercial fit-outs, gypsum partitions cost less per square meter installed and can be built roughly two to three times faster than block partitions of an equivalent height, largely because there's no wet trade (plastering, curing time) involved. Block walls typically cost more upfront but require less long-term acoustic upgrading in high-noise applications.
